CLUB BURWOOD GROUP - PROUDLY SUPPORTING BURWOOD COMMUNITY WELFARE SERVICES

On Tuesday 4th July Club Burwood Group were proud to donate the Club’s pre-loved Tarago to Burwood Community Welfare Services for their use as a ‘back up vehicle’ to increase access to their offices and provide a consistent and reliable service to the Community.   Burwood Community Welfare Services Inc (BCWS) provides a variety of services to members of the community within the Inner West area, primarily for people dealing with poverty, distress and misfortune. Wherever possible, BCWS provides care and support directly to those in need.  BCWS’s volunteers have been actively seeking donations under their ‘project bus scheme’ and have now raised enough funds to purchase a bus.  Christine Strachan, Chief Executive Officer said that this additional vehicle will come in very handy to assist with the extra passenger load and other day to day ‘running around’ the group are required to do.  In addition to the Tarago the Club has agreed to provide registration costs, comprehensive insurance and $2,000 towards running expenses for the ensuing 3 years.

ROYAL LIFE SAVING

Earlier this year Club Management was pleased to receive a visit from Royal Life Saving Society thanking the Club for its support over the year in funding 2 first aid safe programs for kids.
The Club donated $9,000 in total toward this very worthy cause in keeping our kids safe.  Recent statistics show 280 people drowned in Australian Waterways between July 2015-June 2016 which is unfortunately an increase of 5% over last year.  Royal Life Saving NSW are leaders in drowning prevention and the Club is more than happy to suport them in helping make our community free from drowning.  Please stay safe this summer!
